Argao, Talisay advance to Guv Cup quarters
CEBU, Philippines — Team Argao and Talisay City marched into the quarterfinal round of the Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup for Women after emerging as the top two squads of cluster 1 in Argao.
Argao has a perfect 4-0 record. Argao pummeled Minglanilla, 25-16, 25-22, followed by a thrilling 28-26, 21-25, 25-23, victory over Naga City. Argao belles also upended Talisay, 25-22, 25-23 before beating San Fernando, 25-19, 25-16.
Talisay managed to punched a ticket to the next round after winning against San Fernando, 25-15, 25-10 and Minglanilla, 25-21, 25-16.
The Talisay lady spikers sealed the cluster round with a 25-16, 22-25, 25-22, win over Naga.
Minglanilla fell short after finishing the round with two wins and two losses, while Naga had 1-3 slate as San Fernando failed to score a single win.
