PB Corp. logs 3rd win; Casili, Polog reach Alegado Cup semis
CEBU, Philippines — Rumar Ponce dropped 26 points to power PB Corporation to a 110-96 victory in overtime against Saritha in the open category of the 10th Mayor Alegado Cup Inter-Barangay Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion.
Lemuel Malagar finished with 19 markers while Regie Gabato contributed 16 points as PB Corp. tightened its grip of the solo second place in the standings with a 3-1 win-loss record, just a full game behind the 3-0 David Justin.
Franco Te, Philip Niño Garcia, and Mils Anthony Lunao all scored 10 underscoring PB Corp.’s balanced attack.
After a 90-all stalemate at the end of the regulation period, PB Corp. literally handcuffed the Saritha squad in the extra five-minute period, holding off their foes to a measly six points while torching 20 points for the kill.
Jonel Maglasang tallied 26 points, while Brevin Keith Padayogdog and Godfrey Sabanal combined for 25 points for Saritha, which crashed to its third straight loss.
Meanwhile, Casili and Polog marched into the semifinals in their respective categories.
Kendrick Bob Alcover and Regnier Gonzaga connived for 41 points as Casili bombed out Cabangahan, 79-65, to reach the Final 4 in the SK juniors category A, while Pablito Balaba, Raymond Lahoylahoy and Kevinson Labapez conspired for 54 points as Polog ousted Panas, 81-77, to barge into the SK juniors category B semis.— EBV
