Cebuano marksman bags two silvers in Indonesia
CEBU, Philippines — Talisay City’s Diogenes “Larry” Avila made a good impression in his international debut after coming up with double silver in the 43rd Southeast Asian Shooting Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia yesterday.
Avila bagged his first silver medal in the individual battle before teaming up with Ronald Hejastro and Condrad Abainza to clinched another silver in thea team event.
Avila represented the country in Indonesia after making it to the national team. The Cebuano impressed the national team coaches after dominating the metallic silhouette air rifle event during the National Series.
With his performance, Avila showed that he is ready for his bid in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games later this year at the Philippine Marine Firing Range Complex in Taguig City.
“Getting the gold medal in the SEA Games is a tough task but I the national team didnt include me for nothing. I am determined to win it!,” said Avila.
Avila hoped that he and the rest of the national shooting team gets another exposure in metal silhouette shooting SEAG.
