PRISAA National Games
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Marites Falcutila topped the women’s 100m race in athletics event to hand Central Visayas its first gold in this year’s Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games at the University of Mindanao-Matina campus here.
The 19-year-old sprinter from Lapu-Lapu City finished the century dash with an unofficial time of 12.76 seconds.
“Ako gyud ning gi-aim nga maka-gold ko maski pa og first time ni nako ug wala pa gyud mi coach mikuyog namo diri,” said Falcutila.
Falcutila’s fellow University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) athletes Mark Batiancila also handed bronze in the 400m hurdles with a 58.05 clocking.
Aside from Falcutila and Batiancila, two other CV tracksters also debuted in the PRISAA National Games in style.
Jhuvan Jhen Baculot of the University of Cebu (UC) won silver in long jump with a leap of 5.05 meters while Leo Ivan Bendijo also bagged a silver in 400m hurdles.
Ronelyn Borres of the University of San Carlos (USC) settled for bronze in the women’s 400m run with a time of 1:11.73.
In the youth division, May Ki Joy Park claimed CV’s first medal after winning bronze in the discus throw with a distance of 26.11m.
In the ball games, the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers-powered men’s basketball squad decimated CARAGA,153-60, while the USC-manned football team spared no mercy in a 15-0 rout of Northern Mindanao. (FREEMAN)
