2019 CVIRAA: Gymnasts deliver early for TCC

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Team Cebu City gymnasts provided their team with a strong start in the 2019 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet after sweeping six gold medals yesterday at the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) gymnasium.

Fil-British Leanne Marie Manning led the charge with three individual golds. Manning topped the freehand event as other Cebu City athletes Ziah Tajanlangit and Leann Mae Lubang clinching the silver and bronze medal, respectively.

The Grade Six student of One World Montessori also showcased her wares well in the apparatus competition where she won the gold in the rope, ball and ribbon events.

“My ultimate goal now is to win in the Palaro gold. It will be my third time in the Palaro and my last in the elementary division,” said the 11-year-old Manning, who was also invited to the national team.

Meanwhile, Lapu-Lapu City’s Elisha Nicole Sorreno got the bronze medal in the ribbon, while her sister Shanese Danielle and Zybelle Gabrielle got the silver in the team event. Danao City composed of Faith Camigue Charity, Faith Nicole Precillas and Mary Zuriel Talisaysay took the bronze medal.

With their gymnastics team strong performance, Team Cebu City athletes are expected to continue the momentum as action goes full blast today in different venues. (FREEMAN)
