99ers rout Ronins in USC-NABC caging
CEBU, Philippines — The 1999ers overwhelmed the 1997 Ronins, 80-55, at the start of the University of San Carlos-North Alumni Basketball Conference (USC-NABC) Summer League 3 at the USC North Campus gym.
The 99ers were all business from start to finish on the way to come up with a 25-point rout.
Jose Honorio dropped a game-high 27 points, while Ernest Rama and Joseph Bragat chipped in 15 and 11 markers, respectively, for the 99ers.
Jake Saturninans topscored with 18 points, Kristian Tapic had 11, while Yexter Yulin scored 10 for the Ronins.
The 99ers and the Ronins are part of the nine-team Division 2 field bannered by defending champion 2001 Shipmen along with 1993 Dragons, 1994 Bulldogs, 1995 Pirates, 1996 Chubbies, 1998 Sipat and 2000 Bugs.
In Divison 1, the 1985 Legends are out to reclaim lost glory as they wage war against a heavy loaded 1980 Chargers, 1982 Classics, 1986 Geeks, 1987 Bros, 1988 Barakos, 1991 Bai and 1992 Rascals.
While the 2008 Flyboys will try to protect their Division 3 title against hungrier opponents including the two teams from Batch 2002, the Lions A and Lions B. Their other challengers are 2003 Stallions, 2004 CSAS Rebels, 2006 Fury, 2007 Waybus, 2010 Pioneers, 2011 Elevens and 2015 Samurais. (FREEMAN)
