CEBU, Philippines — After eight years, the dream of businessman-sportsman Ugur Tasci to have his own sports facility is now becoming a reality with the building of Dynamic HERB Sports Complex - a state-of-the-art, multi-sport complex in South Road Properties that is due for completion in the middle of 2018.

“It’s something we don’t have it in Cebu. That is why we are building this one. More than the business side, it is also our way of giving back to Cebu,” said Ugur Tasci in a press conference yesterday at Raphael's Sports Cafe in SM Seaside City.

Tasci’s laid out his plan almost a decade ago when he and his brother put up the Leylam Football Club.

The lack of a playing venue has pushed Ugur to make his own field. But what was supposed to be just a football pitch  sprouted into a sprawling complex that can accommodate other sports.

The Freeman learned that Tasci's lease of the 1.2 hectare land from the Borromeo brothers led by Jonnel Borromeo is initially set for 10 years.

It is a bit risky on Tasci's part considering the cost of the facility they are building, but he confided that he trusts Jonnel’s word that the lease can be extended for a long time since the latter is also all for sports development in the city.

The main attraction of the complex, of course, is an international standard football field but it has an indoor gym that can accommodate futsal, volleyball, basketball and badminton events.

A running pathway will also be built for joggers and fitness buffs. On top of that, Ugur is looking forward to accommodate national and international events as well as house a sports academy and seminars in their facility. (FREEMAN)
