Pardo shines in Cebu City dancefest

CEBU, Philippines — Team Pardo grabbed two gold medals and one bronze to rule the first leg of the Cebu City Dancesport Challenge at the Labangon Elementary School.

Matthew Madrid and Denise Abella spearheaded Pardo's triumph with a double victory in the modern standard closed bronze and open routine under the elementary division. They also got bronze in the Latin dance closed bronze won by host Labangon’s Jamaica Krisha Sabanal and Brent Ngojo.

Basak came up with one gold and a silver, Tejero with a silver and Asturias with a bronze.

In the secondary level, Seigfreid Flores and Cecille Noel of Asturias topped the standard open routine, while tandem of Junrhee Ballescas and Rodelyn Pritos lorded it over in the Latin discipline.

Tisa bagged one gold and a bronze, City Central School had two silvers, while Tejero took one bronze.

Jayson Baran and Rizza Malingin of the Cebu Technological University (CTU) dominated the Latin action in the college division after outclassing Maverick Oliamot and Criselle Aurea Encabo of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R).

The second leg of the series will take place at Lahug Elementary School on September 30. (FREEMAN)
