Cebu Landmasters captures Division A title in SHAABAA

CEBU, Philippines - Daryle Tan churned out 21 points as the Cebu Landmasters swept Gaisano Capital in their best-of-three finals series with a lopsided 82-66 victory in Game 2 to claim the Division A title of the PLDT SME Nation-Alfredo Gothong 21st Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Cup last Wednesday night at the Magis Eagles Arena of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Moncrief Rogado banged in 15 points and Bradley Bacaltos added 10 for the Cebu Landmasters, who unleashed a sizzling 22-9 run in the second quarter to tear the game apart at the break, 41-26. Gaisano Capital failed to get out of that deep hole until the final buzzer.

Arc Araw-araw led four Gaisano Capital players in double figures with 15 points. Mavi Suiarez and Alphonsus Doyon each scored 12, while Jason Arquizola had 11 in a losing effort.

In the other games, John Paul Cabrera had 20 points and Erwin Ngo chipped in 13 as Dynacast Batch 2001 edged AutoLAB Batch '99, 59-53, in their knockout match to advance into the Division B finals, while Lorenz Yap erupted for 22 points and Noriko Benedicto and Fredrick Quiñanola connived for 27 points as Batch 2004 triumphed over Prince Warehouse Club Batch 2006, 61-55, to settle for third place in Division C.
