Legends defend USC-NABC title

CEBU, Philippines - The Lou Regidor-led 1985 Legends went through overtime before completing a two-game sweep of the 1993 Dragons via 70-69 thriller to defend their Division 3 title in the University of San Carlos (USC) NABC Sinulog Cup last Sunday at the USC-North Campus gym along General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.

This as the 2001 Dos Mil Uno and the 2008 Fly Boys also applied the broom in taking their respective division crowns.

Regidor exploded with 37 points capped by a buzzer-beating jumper that lifted the Legends to crowning glory. The former pro cager went on top snatch the Finals MVP award.

It was indeed a sorry loss for the Dragons. Up by a hairline, 69-68, theycould have even sealed the match but Bong Eleazer muffed two free throws with 1.3 seconds left that spelled their doom.

In the other game, Antonino "Jun" San Juan amassed 28 points to lead Dos Mil Uno. Three others cashed in double figures with Lawrence Charles Parrotina scoring 19, Carlos Campos 13 and Alvin Haban 12. Campos was doubly happy as he also bagged the MVP trophy.

In Division 3, Nilton John Otida had 11 points as the Fly Boys succeeded in dethroning Elevens via a 57-56 cliffhanger. Mon Adlawan took the MVP honors in their group. (BANAT NEWS)
