SWU Dental Society cagers dominate

CEBU, Philippines - The Southwestern University (SWU) Dentistry students pounded on the Sugbo Dens Thunder-CDS1 of playing coach Dr.  Boy Te, 61-54, to rule the bastkeball event that was among the highlights of the annual National Dental Health Month celebration last Tuesday night at the Cebu Coliseum.

The SWU Dentistry wasted away a 12-point lead, 32-44, but turned to the hot hands of Jarred Macasabog, who knocked in six straight free throws in the crucial stretch that bailed them out of danger. Macasabog almost singhle-handedly carry his team to victory with a game-high 25 points.

The Thunder-CDS1 was led by Genaro Borces with 22 points, while Dante Bercede, Jr. added 20 points in a losing effort.

The SWU Dentistry made it to the finals after they toppled the CDU Warriors, while Te and his wards advanced to the finals after dethroning Techdent-CDS2 led by former SWU Cobra JRoss Ceniza. The Warriors went on to claim the third place honors after beating Techdent, 59-57.
