17th Aboitiz Football Cup goes full blast in 2 venues

CEBU, Philippines - Exciting football action in the 17th Aboitiz Cup goes full blast today in two separate venues in Mandaue City. The San Roque Parish field in Barangay Subangdaku will play host to the mixed under-11 and boys 18 categories, while the rest of games will be played at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Barangay Canduman.

A total of 20 teams spread in four brackets will compete in the under 11. Under group A are SHS-Ateneo de Cebu, Lahug FC-A, San Roque FC, University of San Carlos-BED and Don Bosco Technology Center-B, while group B has Bright Academy-A, Cebu International School, Mad, St.Theresa's College and DBTC-C.

Group C has Bright Academy-C, Suba-Basbas, BMAL-B, Lahug FC-B and DB Magone, while group D will have Paref-Springdale, Consolacion, Timex, DBTC and DB Savio.

The boys under-18 drew 17 teams. Bundled in group A are Paref-Springdale, Alcoy FC, CIC-Mandaue and the University of Southern Philippines Foundaton, group B has SHS-AdC, Alegria, CIS, ERCO, and the University of San Jose-Recoletos, group C has DBTC, Benthel Asia, Leylam and Real Galaxy, while slugging it out in group D are Abellana National School, Bright, USC-BED and Mad FC.

Over at SHS-Ateneo pitch, games in the mixed under-9 and the girls 15 and 18-under will get underway.

Seventeen squads will vie for supremacy in the under-9 division, majority of which come from DBTC with six teams under different groups.

The other contenders are Bright Academy, SRFC, USC-BED, Sais Gannet, STC, Springdale, Cebu Dynamo, Consolacion, SHS-AdC, Cebu Learning and CIS.

In the girls 15, five teams will fight it out namely SHS-AdC, STC, Tabor Hills, Bright Academy and Mactan Spartans.

In the girls 18, the 11 teams are split in two groups. Group A has SHS-AdC, CIS, ERCO, Bright Academy, Talisay Raskals and Tayud United, while group B has SRFC, STC, CIC-Mandaue, SAIS Gannet and Tabor Hills FC. (FREEMAN)
