DSWD-7 gets 5-star rating under DOE’s energy-saving program

CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-7 got a 5-star compliance rating during the conduct of a spot check for the mandatory implementation of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) by the Department of Energy (DOE)-Visayas Field Office.

DOE distributed 12 LED lamps each to government agencies that garnered a 5-star rating during the general assembly of the Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO-7) on March 21, 2024.

Atty. Janet Padolina, chief of the General Legal Services Division, DOE Central Office, and chief of the DOE-Energy Resource Development and Utilization Division, Visayas Field Office, Lourdes Arciaga, distributed the LED lamps.

The spot-check activity is under DOE’s GEMP, which aims to reduce the use and cost of energy in government agencies by advancing energy efficiency technologies and practices in all government facilities.

The program requires all government offices to reduce their electricity and fuel consumption by 10 percent.

DSWD-7 regional director Shalaine Marie Lucero, in a statement, thanked the DOE for recognizing the efforts of their office in cost-saving measures for effective and efficient energy consumption.

“I urge everyone to continue the pagpakabana of our cost-saving measures to reduce energy costs,” Lucero told to the department’s personnel. (CEBU NEWS)
