Camotes gets multi-million worth of infra from Capitol

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Government poured in multi-million pesos worth of infrastructure projects in Camotes Island.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday led the inauguration of several newly concreted roads in the town of San Francisco. Among the roads inaugurated by the governor was the 5.2 kilometer Sta Cruz – Cabungaan Road worth P79 million.

Garcia said the project will be extended up to Barangay Sonog in San Francisco to ensure that residents from the area will also benefit from the said road improvement.

In Poro, Garcia also led the inauguration of the Poblacion-Adela-Daan Paz road section. The Capitol allocated P55 million for the project.

“Nalipay kaayo ko nga tulo diay ni ka barangay ang atong natagaan og (proyekto). Intawon dili na mo maglisod, giaspalto man diay ni nato sa una, pero apan lage nahuman na akong tulo ka termino, wala na tawon ma maintain, naguba na gyud, maong gipabalik ko’s Ginoo para atong ma semento,” Garcia told the residents.

Aside from Poro and San Francisco, Capitol officials also went to Pilar town where they opened a newly completed multi-purpose gym in Barangay San Juan worth P4 million and a P3.9 million worth covered court in Barangay Esperanza.

Garcia also distributed P200,000 worth of check to each of the 11 barangays. The barangay captains of Dapdap, Cawit, San Juan, Upper Poblacion, Monserrat, Imelda, Biasong, Moabog, Villahermosa, Lower Poblacion, and Lanao received the amount as financial assistance for various projects the barangays want to implement.

The governor was accompanied by Provincial Board Members Mike Villamor and Red Duterte. The distribution of financial assistance was held in time for the Capitol’s quarterly Caravan of Services in the island.

Various services from the provincial government and other government offices were brought closer to the people in the island. Several government agencies like the Department of Agriculture, PhilHealth, PAG-IBIG, DILG, DSWD, and other offices have partnered with the Capitol to help provide free services to the public.

On June 6, the Capitol caravan of services also went to the town of Consolacion where Garcia handed P1 million each to Mandaue City, Consolacion, and Cordova for the Sugbo Baboyan sa Tugkaran program. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
