Central Visayas logs 8 new COVID deaths

CEBU, Philippines —  The Department of Health (DOH)-7 has reported that Central Visayas has 441 new COVID-19 cases from November 27 to December 3, or an average of 63 new cases daily.

Of that figure, eight have died due to COVID-19 while two are reported to have severe and critical cases.

As of December 4, the total cumulative doses administered in Region-7 are already at 10,516,847, but there are still 646,371 unvaccinated individuals, said the DOH-7.

The number of fully vaccinated individuals is currently at 4,789,889 or 83.95 percent of the target population.

For the A2 population or the senior citizens, they have vaccinated 412,376 senior citizens with remaining target of 194,862 individuals.

For the pediatric population ages 5-11 years old, complete primary dose series coverage is currently at 32.79 percent or 260,307 children, with a remaining target of 488,993 kids.

For first booster dose among the eligible population, coverage is at 21.10 percent or 939,930 individuals, with a remaining target of 1,980,529 due for first booster.

Meanwhile, the DOH-7 is presently conducting the Bakunahang Bayan 2: Special Vaccination Days from December 5-7 in Central Visayas.

 “Magkuyog kita sa Special Vaccination Days, protektado kita kung bakunado kitang tanan. Sa Bakunahang Bayan, matag Pilipinhon, mas PinasLakas ang proteksyon,” the health department said in its Facebook post.

The DOH-7 continues to remind the public not to be complacent against the threat of COVID-19 and continue to adhere to the minimum public health standard. — GAN (FREEMAN)
