CH workers assured of Christmas bonus
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City government workers are already assured of a Christmas bonus.
Mayor Michael Rama made the assurance yesterday as he delivered his report of his accomplishments during his first 100 days in office to the residents of the city.
The mayor said he intends to give a Christmas bonus ranging from P17,000 to P20,000 depending on how much the City Council would approve. He clarified that it is the Council that will have a final say on the amount.
Rama hopes that the council under the leadership of Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia would give proper attention to it.
Last year, each regular and casual employees of the city government received P20,000 bonus while job order workers got a gratuity pay of P6,000 each, doubled from the original amount.
Barangay workers receiving honorarium from the city government like the Lupon members, tanods, barangay drivers and garbage loaders, barangay environmental officers, street sweepers, city nutrition scholars, community health workers, day care workers, GAD focals, barangay fire auxiliary, and those working under the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) in the barangays also received P3,000 each.
Last February, the City Hall employees also received a Charter Day bonus.
During his previous interviews, Rama said that he would never hesitate to give bonuses to employees in recognition of their contributions to serving the people. — FPL (FREEMAN)
