24-hour police operations yield P25.4 million drugs
CEBU, Philippines — At least P25.4 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in one day region-wide Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations (SEMPO) in Central Visayas.
The operations started at 12:01 midnight Saturday and lasted at 12:01 midnight Sunday.
Police Regional Office-7 director, Police Brigadier General Roque Eduardo DP Vega said the operations comprised 149 on anti-illegal drug busts and 233 warrants of arrest served which resulted in the confiscation of 3,738 grams of suspected shabu amounting to P25.4 million.
The police also arrested 709 individuals for illegal drugs, illegal gambling, loose firearms and wanted persons.
"The region-wide Synchronized Enhanced Managing Police Operations aims at reducing crime and strengthening public safety with the support of the community to the mandates of the Philippine National Police,” Vega said.
There were also 130 gambling operations conducted resulting in the arrest of 295 individuals and confiscated P26,781 cash.
In the campaign against loose firearms, there were 251 assorted firearms and one explosive seized in 185 operations.
