Toledo cops in pursuit of man who robbed a working student

CEBU, Philippines —  Operatives of Toledo City Police Station are conducting a hot pursuit operation against the suspect in the robbery and attempted homicide of a 21-year-old working student in Barangay Magdugo, Toledo City.

Authorities identified the suspect as Kenneth Purisima, 31, resident of the same barangay.

Initial investigation revealed that at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday, the victim (name withheld) was sleeping inside the house where she is working.

She told the police that she was awakened by the sound of a door opening. She said she didn't mind it at first thinking it was just her employer.

The victim said she was surprised when the suspect suddenly jumped onto her and started attacking her with a knife. The victim suffered from multiple stab wounds in the right thigh, chest and left shoulder.

Despite her injuries, the victim managed to escape from her attacker and cried for help prompting the suspect to flee. The suspect left the knife he used to attack the victim but took the victim's phone with him

The victim was rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. Police said the victim was able to identify the suspect since he is also a resident in the same barangay. — FPL (FREEMAN)
