Gwen to increase honoraria of barangay workers

CEBU, Philippines — Barangay workers in the province will be expecting an increase of their honorarium from the Cebu provincial government.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said she will keep her promise to the barangay workers to give them additional honorarium every year.

“I promised nga for my 5th term, P5,000 na ang ilang madawat,” Garcia said.

The barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, barangay health aide and other barangay workers are entitled to P4,000 honorarium from the Capitol.

The barangay tanods are also currently receiving honorarium of at least P3,000. Garcia has not yet announced how much the increase for the barangay tanods is.

For Gender and Development (GAD) focal persons and members of the lupong tagapamayapa are now included in the honorarium from the Capitol which is up to P1,000.

Aside from the honoraria from the Capitol, the barangay workers in Cebu Province are also covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) group accident insurance of the Capitol.

The insurance covered is up to P100,000. — GMR (FREEMAN)
