Cebu City close to hitting P3 billion target revenue

CEBU, Philippines —  Out of the P3-billion target revenue collection for 2022, the Cebu City government has so far collected a total of P2.5 billion in business and real property taxes.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama announced on Monday that the city has so far collected P700 million out of the P1.2-billion target in real property taxes. It has also rake in P1.8 billion in business taxes out of the P2-billion target this year. The amount was an improvement of last year’s P1.6 billion despite the ongoing pandemic.

Rama urged the City Treasurer’s Office to work double time to hit the P3-billion target. Nevertheless, Rama has lauded the employees of the treasurer’s office for their efforts to achieve the target revenue collection.

As a form of motivation, Rama assured the city hall workers that their midyear bonus will be given on time.

In fact, he already directed all department heads to start preparing the required documents for the release of the midyear bonus.

“Ako lang hangyo ninyo, trabahoa na aron inig abot sa midyear, dili kay adto i-hatag sa December,” said Rama.

The mayor also reminded the employees to keep the public service alive at the City Hall and ensure that they are of service to the Cebuanos and not for any other considerations. — FPL (FREEMAN)
