Lapu-Lapu City to provide WFH spaces for residents

CEBU, Philippines —  The Lapu-Lapu City government is opening up this week three co-working spaces to allow those who are working-from-home to continue their work.

Mayor Junard Chan said the city government will provide free electricity and internet connection for these workers.

“Atong nadungog ang ilang mga dangoyngoy kay dili na sila makapadayon sa ilang panginabuhian tungod sa atong sitwasyon karon. Maong nangita kita og paagi nga makahatag og lugar kanila nga ato silang mahatagan og internet connection ug kuryente,” Chan said in his post on Facebook.

The city also released yesterday the masterlist of individuals qualified to receive a P5,000 financial assistance from the city government. Chan said Olango Island, which is composed of nine barangays, has completed the list first.

He urged the barangay officials to submit the list immediately to hasten the release of the funds.

“Atong paninguhaon nga makuha na nato kini aron dili madelatar ang atong gi-expect nga distribution schedule nga mao ang January 15 ug 16, 2022,” the mayorsaid.

Meanwhile, the office of Rep. Paz Radaza has set up free mobile phone charging to ensure connectivity for city residents.

Radaza said that a mobile vehicle will stay in a barangay for two hours for people to have their gadgets charged before transferring to another barangay.

She said that regularly, her staff or team will visit the evacuation centers without the power connection yet and bring the mobile charging station closer to them.

“For the last 23 days, padayon ta nga naghatag og serbisyo sa free charging. Everyday nagtuyok ang atong team sa headquarters aron mapaabot sa inyong barangay ang serbisyo. Daghan ni message nato nga wala pa silay kuryenti busa ato gyud ni gi-ayudahan,” Rada said in her post on Facebook.

She said that everyday her team of youth volunteers will proceed to small sitios to deliver the free charging service like in Barangay Marigondon.

“Mibisita sila sa mga gagmay'ng sitio sa Marigondon diin hangtod ron wa pa gyud kasiga. Grabe ang damaged nga nasinati sa taga Marigondon mao dugay-dugay pa gyud ni sila maka siga labi na kadtong padung sa Marbeach nga tanang poste gyud ang natuwad,” Radaza said.--  FPL (FREEMAN)
