Parents to face probe over boy's death — Cops

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City police are now calling for the parents’ cooperation in the death of the 11-year-old boy whose head was hit by movable metal rod while sitting on the gutter on P. Burgos Street on Sunday.

This is the call of Police Captain Edgar Labe, Waterfront Police Station chief, after the parents of Cris Bryner Ugsang, a resident of B. Aranas Extension, refused to cooperate with them for an investigation.

"Kani man gud, ako ni syang gipaadtoan sa akong investigator di man mo (cooperate) ginikanan, wala pud nagpa blotter sa barangay maong wala pud diri, so mao ning wala jud mi record," said Labe.

Labe said they were only able to gather the information through the social media posts.

Accordingly, at the time of the incident, the boy was with his grandmother who was selling candles at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.

According to Labe, in a conversation with the barangay tanod, the family is no longer interested in the investigation into the incident.

"Kay gitabangan na kuno sila sa barangay captain mao istorya atong tanod, dili man sad mi gapamugos, dili man sad sila interesado," said Labe.

Labe said that the investigation would determine whether there was negligence on the part of the parents which resulted in the boy’s death.

"Mao unta nay gipaadto nako atong among policewoman og nganong naabot didto ang ilang anak, pero di man moatubang," said Labe.

He said they will try again to ask the parents to cooperate in the investigation after the funeral of the child.

"Among gihangyo na mo cooperate kay napublikar na baya ni..hanging kaayo mi," said Labe. — GMR (FREEMAN)
