CEBU, Philippines — Even with the lifting of the “stay-at-home” order every Sunday in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, only few individuals went out of their respective houses.
Barangay Captain Michael Gacasan is hoping that this will be sustained.
“So far so good. Gamay ray mga nanggawas gahapon (Sunday). Maybe naanad na ang mga tawo na di na magsigeg gawas-gawas,” said Gacasan to The Freeman.
If he has his way though, Gacasan said it would have been better if they kept the “stay-at-home” order during Sundays.
“Kung ako lang gyuy pabut-on, mas nindot gyud untag ipadayon kay para di na mosaka og balik ning kaso na pud diri, likay lang sa virus gihapon unta,” said Gacasan.
The stay-at-home Sundays was re-implemented last January 24 after cases steadily increased in the barangay.
Although there are still around 40 active cases in the barangay’s own record and 52 under the Emergency Operations Center, Gacasan said around 20 of them are on their way to recovery already.
Gacasan, however, said that new cases are on single digits already unlike in the previous months when they were on a double digit in additional cases almost every day.
“I just hope nga magmatngon na ang mga tawo diri’s amoa karon. Lisud kaayo kung taas ang kaso,” said Gacasan.
In EOC’s latest data, Guadalupe still tops the most number of COVID-19 cases at 52 followed by Lahug with 51 while Tisa is at third spot with 33 while the next two spots are occupied by Apas and Punta Princesa with 32 cases each.
Based on EOC’s data, Cebu City has 762 active cases left. These are coming from the 63 different barangays here. — GMR (FREEMAN)
