Cold weather to stay until end of February

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu will continue to experience cold weather conditions up to the end of February, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA-Visayas weather specialist Jhomer Eclarino said the condition is brought by northeast monsoon or “amihan” affecting the Philippines since October last year.

Eclarino said the month of February is the peak of the northeast monsoon.

But he said there are days in the month that Cebu will experience sunny weather like today.

For today, Cebu will experience an improved weather condition wherein it will be mostly cloudy with isolated rain showers. The temperature is 24 to 30 degree Celsius.

So far this year, PAGASA-Visayas lowest temperature recorded is 22.9 degree Celsius last January 26 at 6:16 a.m.

Eclarino added that zero or at least one weather disturbance is expected for the month of February to be named Auring, the first weather disturbance for this year.

PAGASA named other weather disturbances for the year Bising, Crising, Dante, Emong, Fabian, Gorio, Huaning, Isang, Jolina, Kiko, Lannie, Maring, Nando, Odette, Paolo, Quedan, Ramil, Salome, Tino, Uwan, Verbena, Wilma, Yasmin and Zoraida. — GMR (FREEMAN)
