CEBU, Philippines —  A 41-year-old detainee who escaped while on hospital arrest was killed during a hot pursuit operation by the operatives in Daanbantayan town in northern Cebu Thursday evening.

Police said that Mark Moralde sneaked out of Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) Thursday dawn.

Several hours later, Moralde was sighted with her live-in partner at Sitio Magsa-obay in Barangay Maya, Daanbantayan.

Moralde, who was facing drug charges, was killed by the operatives after he allegedly fired at them.

Investigations revealed that he was detained at Pasil Police Station before he was brought to CCMC for medication several weeks ago.

Authorities recovered a caliber .357 revolver loaded with three live ammunition, two fired cartridge cases and a fired bullet from the suspect.

His live-in partner was arrested and brought to Pasil Police Station for helping Moralde to escape. — GMR (FREEMAN)
