4 stores lose P70 thousand cash, phones to burglar

CEBU, Philippines — At least four stores located inside a mall in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City lost cash and valuables amounting to around P70,000 to a burglar.

Initial investigation revealed that two mobile stalls, one watch store and a jewelry stall, all situated at the ground floor of the mall, have reported their stolen articles.

The burglar, only identified as certain “Dodong” by cops, carted away P32,171 and P12, 329 from a watch stall and a jewelry store, respectively.

One mobile store lost phones worth P7,499, while the other store lost two items worth P9,999 and P5,999

The mall management is still conducting an inventory for the other floor of the mall.

Police said they are still conducting a follow-up operation to determine the complete identity of the suspect.

Pieces of evidence recovered from the crime scene were a steel bar, red bull cap, certificate of marriage, screw, screw driver, cutter flies, and steel improvised hammer.

The burglary was discovered at around 8 a.m. last Thursday when authorized personnel of the mall reported for work.

Customers were not allowed to go inside the mall due to the ongoing investigation. — KQD (FREEMAN)
