CEBU, Philippines —  At least four individuals including two government program beneficiaries were arrested after they were caught in the act playing Cara y Cruz, locally known as "hantak" in Daanbantayan town in northern Cebu last Monday.

Daanbantayan Police Station chief Ian Macatangay identified the suspects as Romeo Prado Orcina, 48; Christopher Colegado Ranolas, 29; Jimjim Conel, 18, and Isagani Doble, 30.

They are residents of Barangay Bakhawan of the said town where they were arrested by the police personnel.

Orcina is said to be a beneficiary of the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) Program while Conel is a Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiary.

The police have confiscated one piece of stone used as "antogan," two .25 centavos used as "antogon," and P103 bet money.

The suspects are now detained at Daanbantayan custodial facility pending the filing of charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or the Penalties on Illegal Gambling before the court.

Macatangay urged the public to support the programs of the Philippine National Police (PNP) against all forms of criminalities. —GMR (FREEMAN)
