IATF allows return of LSIs to Region 6

CEBU, Philippines —  Locally-stranded individuals may now return home to the provinces of Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, and Antique after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has ordered the partial lifting of the travel ban for returning residents in Region 6.

The IATF came up with resolution no. 71 after a meeting last Tuesday, lifting the travel restrictions after an assessment of the rate of transmission and other factors in relation to the onset of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the region.

In lifting the travel ban, IATF noted the statistics reported by the Department of Health as of September 15, which showed the total of 57,392 active cases in the Philippines.

“Therefore, the temporary suspension of inbound travel of returning residents in the provinces of Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental and Antique, including Iloilo City, in Region VI, is hereby lifted,” read the resolution signed by Health Secretary and IATF chairperson Francisco Duque III and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles, also task force co-chairperson. — Philstar News Service, FPL (FREEMAN)
