CEBU, Philippines — A new dialysis center dedicated for non-COVID patients is opening on Friday at SM Seaside City to provide safer place for immunocompromised individuals who need renal replacement therapy.

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella said the center is a joint project of the city government, Cebu provincial government, Department of Health-7, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), and SM City.

Labella, who visited the center ahead of the scheduled inauguration tomorrow, said the facility will accept dialysis patients not only from the city but from the entire province.

The center, which will be equipped with 15 units of dialysis machine, will be under the supervision of Dr. Ariel Indo from VSMMC and Dr. Brian Cesar Diez.

VSMMC usually have 300 to 400 patients a day. Their dialysis sessions are often delayed due to the limited number of machine.

Another dialysis center for COVID-19 patients is also being constructed near the Cebu City Quarantine Center at the North Reclamation. (FREEMAN)
