CEBU, Philippines — Despite the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic affecting the economy, the Bureau of Customs in Cebu posted P2,763,654,529.80 in revenue collection for the month of July.
The amount is P320,534,529.80 or 13.12 percent higher than its revenue target for the month.
BOC-Cebu announced on Facebook that the Port of Cebu has collected a total of P16.902 billion in revenues from January to July this year. It has already accumulated a surplus collection of P1.429 billion against its P15.473 billion target.
Acting District Collector Atty. Charlito Martin R. Mendoza attributed this feat to the hardworking men and women of the agency as well as to the stakeholders.
“The port’s frontliners remain dedicated in serving the public and helping the government by generating more revenues,” Mendoza said.
He added that they will continue to step up their efforts to consistently achieve their monthly collection target and the full-year target by December.
“Now more than ever, the government needs these revenues to fuel its recovery programs during this pandemic,” Mendoza said.
Meanwhile, BOC-Subport of Mactan also collected P89,360,230 in July. The amount is also 91.46 percent higher than its P46,674,000 target for the month.
“The pandemic never deterred the men and women of BOC Mactan to provide dedicated service, all the more that the government necessitates to raise the much-needed revenues,” it posted on Facebook. — FPL (FREEMAN)
