DOH-7 to recommend GCQ for Cebu City after June 30

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Health-7 will recommend to Inter-Agency Task Force to place Cebu City under GCQ after June 30, 2020.

DOH-7 spokesperson Mary Jean Loreche, in a virtual press conference yesterday, said that this is same recommendation they have even before June 15.

She said that it is also their recommended that a sequential lockdowns be implemented in barangays and sitios with high number of COVID-19 cases.

Loreche said DOH-7 believes the entire city should not be locked down so that the economy will have a chance to recover.

Loreche said that COVID-19 cases in Cebu City are “not that on an uncontrollable level.”

“Ma-control ra man gyud pero og magpabilin ta nga gahi og ulo tanan, di na ma-control. Each one of us must do our share and help each other,” Loreche said.

She said that to curb the COVID-19 cases, people should take the problem seriously and follow the public health measures.

She also urged the public not to go to the hospital immediately if they have mild symptoms as no matter how the hospital will increase its bed capacity, it will still not be enough.

This is the reason, she added, why people should follow strictly the public health protocols so as not to overwhelm the hospitals.

Meanwhile, Loreche said that the deployment of doctor for the barrios is no longer mandatory but voluntary.  JMD (FREEMAN)
