The additional cases have increased to 1,723 the total number of persons infected with COVID-19 in the city.

The City Health Department (CHD) also announced that there are two confirmed cases that are now negative based on the latest laboratory test. These two patients are from Barangay Zapatera.

As of yesterday, the city has already logged a total of 78 recoveries. These patients were first tested positive and were placed on isolation. Most of them are from Sitio Zapatera in Barangay Luz.

Mayor Edgardo said the recent spike in COVID-19 cases was the result of contact tracing and mass swab testing conducted in the city.

Labella had ordered the transfer of all asymptomatic patients to the Barangay Isolation Centers (BIC). Isolated patients at BIC are monitored by the medical personnel of the Department of Health and Cebu City Health Department.

Earlier, the mayor’s spokesperson, Atty. Rey Gealon, said those who tested negative will still be transferred to a BIC facility for another 14 days of quarantine.

Before their transfer, they will undergo disinfection and will be provided with new hygiene kits, bed, and blankets.  LPM (FREEMAN)
