CEBU, Philippines — The coastal barangays will be closely monitored for possible escape attempts, after two people from Labangon, Cebu City were arrested in Bohol after they managed to travel using a pumpboat last May 2.
Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Josefino Ligan has directed his men to keep an eye on coastal barangays, after two people from Labangon were intercepted in Bohol upon arriving from Cordova, Cebu boarding a pumpboat.
Sitio Callejon, Barangay Labangon has since been placed under lockdown after the confirmation of a positive case for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) last April 19.
Aside from this, travel in any form going in and outside the province was already restricted as the province was placed under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
However, last May 2, two siblings from Labangon arrived in Fatima, Inabanga, Bohol and were arrested by the authorities.
Ligan said they will be tapping barangay tanods and officials to closely monitor the coastal areas as they have already been activated long before to guard these areas.
"Magbuhat sad silag sistema in how to guard the shorelines. So, from there we will be tapping the cooperation of the barangay officials. We cannot allow these people to go out kay basin mao pa ni hinungdan nga mag spread sa virus hinuon," Ligan said.
He added that they will be investigating and tracing how the two were able to go out from Labangon in going to Cordova, then to Bohol.
They will be also launching an investigation for the possible liabilities of the owner of the pumpboat used by the sibling.
In a Facebook post of Inabanga, siblings Maria Jonalie Bautista Nioda, 33, and John Virgil Nioda, 30, who are both identified as residents of Fatima, Inabanga, Bohol will be facing charges of violation of RA 11332, 9271 and Art. 151 of the Revised Penal Code. GAN (FREEMAN)
