CEBU, Philippines — A liquor ban is not part of Cebu provincial government’s enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) measures in light of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Governor Gwendolyn “Gwen”Garcia made the clarification following queries from the public.

“Let’s understand that some people need to take a shot of two, three, four or five. Kun naa raka sa balay and you are not bothering anybody ngano ato na idili,” she said.

However, the governor said drinking of alcoholic beverages in public places is prohibited.

Garcia warned those who are planning to have a drinking spree in a friend’s house will be arrested.

“Sige adto mo kay pandakpon ta mo. Ingnan na bitaw mo stay at home. Unya magpundok na nuon mo  sa usa ka balay kamong magbarkadahay,” she said.

“Mga silingan sumbong mo kay padad-an dayon nato didto og pulis. Ipadakop man gyud ta mo. Ipasulod ta mong usa ka selda magtapad-tapad mong tanan ug padad-an ta mong napulo ka karton sa Tanduay ipahurot gyud nako ninyo,”she added.

The governor has asked anew the public to refrain from going out of the house.

“Wa saý tsismis ron, utro pud ng virusa na. Undanga sa na. Di na mo pwede manumbalay,”she said.

Garcia on Wednesday night issued Executive Order No. 5-N that placed the province under ECQ effective immediately in a bid to fight against the dreaded COVID-19. KQD (FREEMAN)
