Mandaue to host campus journalism regional competition

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City Schools Division will host the Central Visayas Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) from November 27 to 30.

The secondary level competition will be held at the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School while the elementary level event will be staged at Mandaue City Central School.

A total of 19 schools divisions in Central Visayas will take part in the annual competition that seeks to hone the skills of budding campus journalists as mandated by the Campus Journalism Act of 1991.

This year’s RSPC will be in preparation for the National Schools Press Conference to be held in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan Valley in February 2020.

“Empowering Communities through Campus Journalism” is the theme for this year’s event.

This is the third time that Mandaue City Schools Division is hosting the event.

The division has already coordinated with Department of Education Region VII officials and the concerned local government unit for financial support and other assistance.

“I hope for a successful and peaceful conduct of the 2019 RSPC, furthermore, I pray for the safety and joyful stay of the delegates in Mandaue City,” said Dr. Mercedita Demoral, English and Journalism Supervisor of the Mandaue City Schools Division.

The event has the support of new Mandaue City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nimfa D. Bongo.  LPM (FREEMAN)
