CEBU, Philippines — Expressing dissatisfaction with the outcome of the investigation into the death of a 10-year-old boy who allegedly died of suffocation inside a fireman’s car in Balamban town over the weekend, Police Regional Office-7 director Debold Sinas has ordered a thorough investigation.
Sinas wants police investigators to be thorough in their investigation to find out who could be liable for the boy’s tragic death. The Balamban Police Station has already cleared the fireman of any liability.
Police Major Christian Torres, Balamban Police Station chief, said they have investigated the fireman but found no evidence to hold him accountable. The boy was found dead Saturday afternoon after 14 hours of being trapped inside the firefighter’s car.
It was not established during the investigation how the boy managed to enter the car without the fireman’s knowledge.
But Sinas believes that somebody should be made to answer for the boy’s death.
“You could blame the mother, you could blame anybody but akong istorya sa kanila is to make your (investigation) more scientific,” Sinas said.
Sinas said he already told the investigator not to only rely on intelligence-base evidence like testimonies but to dig deeper into the case. The police official said they are considering the possible negligence of the mother.
“I re-open ang case kasi ang chief of police gusto na nyang i-close kasi according sa iyaha, ang family di na ganahan mo-complain,”Sinas explained.
He dismissed speculations that the police are trying to whitewash the investigation against the owner of the vehicle.
“It’s not the reason. Kung naay somebody that could help us, contact us,” Sinas said. FPL (FREEMAN)
