Pa nabbed for ‘raping’ 2 minor daughters

CEBU, Philippines — A carpenter was arrested Friday for allegedly raping his daughters, aged 12 and 14, several times inside their house in Cebu City.

The FREEMAN is withholding the names of the parties involved due to the sensitive nature of the case.

Initial police investigation revealed that the 40-year-old father “sexually molested” his daughters every time he is drunk.

The 12-year-old was allegedly sexually abused thrice, while the older sister was “raped” twice.

The father’s arrest came after the 14-year-old reported the sexual abuse to her adviser on August 1. The girls are enrolled as Grade 8 and 6 students in a public school in the Cebu City.

The teacher brought the girls to the school’s Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), which was established by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Police then hatched an operation against the father the following day, August 2.

Colonel Gemma Cruz Vinluan, CCPO director, said the father admitted to raping his daughters whenever he would come home from work drunk.

“When I interviewed the father, he admitted to raping his daughters several times,” the city police director said.

The girls are now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas. They underwent psychosocial intervention, trauma treatment and medical examination.

Rape charges will be filed against the father, who is now detained at the CCPO detention cell.

With the incident, Vinluan vowed to establish more WCPDs in different schools in the city.

“Mas lalo akong na-encourage na paigtingin yung help desk kasi meron ng batang naglakas ng loob ng magsumbong,” she said.

Police assistance desks, she said, are designed to immediately respond to the complaints of abused children. The WCPDs are open once a week or every Wednesday. (FREEMAN)
