Sepe, Tolentino richest Capitol department heads

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu Provincial General Services Officer Jone Siegfred Sepe is the richest among the Capitol executives, according to his Sworn Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) report.

On the documents acquired from the Human Resource Management Division, Sepe declared P9.2 million in assets, and P4.8 million of which are from his real properties.

Sepe listed four separate residential lots in Labangon, Cebu City, Sagbayan, Bohol, and two in Quiot Pardo, Cebu City. He also has agricultural lands in Sagbayan, Bohol and a memorial lot in Banilad, Cebu City.

His personal properties include vehicles like Yamaha motorcycle, SUV Nissan Xtrail, Suzuki Multicab, Ramstar Motorcycle and Mitsubishi Lancer.

Sepe did not declare any liabilities.

Second richest is Provincial Administrator Mark Tolentino, who has declared a net worth of P5.1 million.

He declared P7.8 million in assets which is from his P7 million house and lot in Cebu City and his P800,000 worth of Toyota Fortuner that he acquired since 2016 while he declared P2.6 million in liabilities.

Next to Sepe are Information And Communication Technology Officer Marie Jeanette Saluba (P5 million); Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office chief Rodel Bontuyan (P3.8 million); Sangguniang Panlalawigan secretary Atty. Marie Acevedo (P3.5 million).

The rest of the top 10 richest Capitol department heads are Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Rene Catan (P3.5 million); Provincial jail warden Reynaldo Valmoria (P3.46 million); Provincial Accountant Marieto Ypil (P2.9 million); Provincial Assessor Alma Sibonga (P2.8 million); and Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office chief Ivy Remedios Durano-Meca (P2.6 million).

Government workers have to file SALN yearly as stipulated under the 1987 Philippine Constitution and under Republic Act 6713, also known as the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.”

The law requires that all public officials and employees must file their SALN, except those serving in honorary capacity; those with position title of laborer; and casual or temporary workers. — MBG (FREEMAN)
