CEBU, Philippines — A 64-year-old man allegedly shoot himself to death inside his office on F. Zuellig Street, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City yesterday noon.

The fatality is identified as Mario Caballes, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

A woman identified as Trisha Lapinid was hit with the bullet from Caballes and is now recuperating in a hospital.

Caballes was last seen entering the Accounting Office and he was looking for documents.

A few minutes later, they heard gunshot and officemates called the police and administrator of the building.

When the police arrived, the victim was found lifeless sitting on a chair while the firearm he used was on the floor.

Senior Supt. Julian Entoma, City Director of Mandaue City Police, said they are considering suicide even if Caballes did not leave a suicide note.

Entoma said Caballes may have lost hope amid the problem he is facing but the police official did not elaborate.

They are conducting further investigation and they will be checking footage of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) to determine what actually happened. — With Imarie Jane D. Madarieta, USJ-R Intern, and Jahzeel Willow S. Coquico (FREEMAN)
