CEBU, Philippines — Five people, including a drug surrenderer, were arrested in separate anti-drug operations conducted by the police in the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Talisay resulting in the seizure of over P400,000 worth of shabu.

Joint operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch and Talisay City Police Station arrested Jary Parba, 27, and Rouel Rabaya, 44, in Zone 3 Barangay Biasong, Talisay City last Saturday afternoon.

Talisay Police Station chief Supt. Marlu Conag said a large pack of shabu and an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol was confiscated from Parba while five small packs of shabu were also recovered from Rabaya.

Conag estimated the illegal drugs seized from the suspects to be worth P472,000. Parba reportedly admitted having killed three people and is also wanted for rape.

Both Parba and Rabaya are temporarily detained at the Talisay Police Station pending the filing of the criminal complaints against them for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Parba will also face a separate complaint for illegal possession of firearm.

In another police operation, Infante Ybañez, 41, was arrested in Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Marigondon in Lapu-Lapu City last Friday for possession of illegal drugs.

Chief Inspector Juan Capacio, chief of Marigondon Police Station 4, said Ybañez was caught in possession of seven packs of shabu worth P4,000. He is said to be a new drug personality in the area.

Few hours after Ybañez’ arrest, two more suspected drug personalities were arrested by the police4 in the same barangay. The suspects were identified as Harold John Pino, 27, and his cohort Eliseo Dela Serna, 49.

Pino, a former drug surrenderer, was found with nine sachets of suspected shabu while Dela Serna yielded a pack.

The three suspects are temporarily detained in the holding cell of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office while criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied for filing. (FREEMAN)
