CEBU, Philippines — Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas has asked the police to expedite their investigation into the killing of former city councilor Emilio “Emil” Go.

The mayor, who was present during a necrological service for Go’s remains yesterday at the council session hall, also wants the city police to give him updates on their investigation today.

Go served as city councilor when Gullas had his first term as mayor in 2001. Gullas described him as a charitable man.

Earlier, Inspector Inar Vic Florece, deputy police chief of Talisay, told reporters that they have yet to narrow down the motives behind the killing, which include personal grudge, Go’s alleged involvement in illegal drugs, and illegal gambling.

So far, police still have no leads as to who could have perpetrated the crime.

Gullas said that if Conag will submit a report that was already published in the news, he would definitely ask questions.

“Ug sa iyang report dili ko satisfied, I will ask him questions, leading questions,” he said.

Go was shot dead by unidentified assailants on March 21 inside his family’s compound at Mansueto Village in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City.

He suffered gunshot wound to his head that caused his death.

Go’s family, meanwhile, said they fully trust the police for the speedy resolution of the case.

A grandchild of Go, who spoke to The FREEMAN on the condition of anonymity, said the family does not know of any person in particular who could have carried out the killing.

According to the police, Go was as included in list of drug personalities in Central Visayas.

The grandchild refused to comment on this report, saying that right now, they are focusing on the preparations for the funeral. —JMD (FREEMAN)
