CEBU, Philippines — The spate of killings in Cebu perpetrated by those riding-in-tandem groups continues.

At around 2:20 a.m. yesterday, Warlito Ararao Colina, 43, a native of Tiniwisan, Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte, was shot dead inside his car by two men on board a motorcycle along F. Cabahug St., Corner Pope John Paul II Avenue, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.

Colina, who succumbed to several gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body including three fatal shots in his head and neck, was declared dead on the spot by the attending personnel of the Emergency Medical Services Team.

A public utility jeepney driver, who witnessed the incident, told the police that the victim was smoking inside his Nissan Sentra vehicle with plate number JEH 159 when the two male assailants on board a motorcycle stopped near the driver's side and fired multiple shots on the victim.

Colina reportedly still managed to drive his vehicle a few meters away from the crime scene but lost control and eventually stopped after hitting a traffic sign post.

The suspects allegedly sped off after the incident.

Police Chief Inspector Christopher Navida, Chief of the City Intelligence Branch, said that Colina is not on their drug watch list.

However, Police Officer 3 Geoffrey A. Gutual, investigator from Cebu City Police Office Homicide section, confirmed that Colina was a former inmate at the Cebu City Jail and was freed in 2013.

He was jailed for violation of Section 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Crime Scene Investigation Unit were able to recover four empty shells and one slug of a caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .45 pistol with magazine containing two bullets and one black holster that the victim owns, two Samsung mobile phones, victim's PhilHealth identification card, driver's license, receipts and  P32,400 cash in different denominations.

Colina's body was brought to the St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.

The police is conducting a follow-up operation and further investigation on the incident. — GAN (FREEMAN)
