100 traffic violators cited in Life Dance party

CEBU, Philippines — The Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) has issued citation tickets to over 100 car owners for illegal parking during the Life Dance party held on a lot in the North Reclamation across Parkmall last January 19.

Glenn Antigua, TEAM chief of operations, said his 20 traffic enforcers issued the citation tickets because violators parked their cars on both sides of the street surrounding the social event.  The city government has provided a parking area for the partygoers near the event.

“Ato gibadlong ang uban (pero) di sila patuo kay naka-park na sila unya nakainom na," Antigua said.

Senior Superintendent Roberto Alanas, director of Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said his personnel confiscated several bottles of hard liquors after they saw partygoers drinking on the road.

Some partygoers heeded the police reminders while others continued drinking which resulted in the confiscation of the alcoholic beverages.

He said a city ordinance prohibits consuming hard liquors along the streets.

Police initiated the confiscation of these hard liquor items as the city government wants to maintain zero incidents, according to Alanas.

"Para walang gulo, kinontrol natin yung nag-iinom sa labas," he said.

The confiscated bottles of liquor were brought to MCPO-Station 2 in Barangay Subangdku for inventory.

As for the traffic violators, Antigua said a criminal case will be filed if they will not settle the penalty fee imposed of P1,000.

A subpoena and a warrant of arrest will be served once traffic violators fail to settle matter.

In terms of peace and order, Alanas said no one was reported hurt or injured during the open-field party.

"Walang nasaktan (sa Life Dance), yun ang importante do'n," Alanas said.

The Life Dance party started at 4 p.m. and ended around 4 a.m. the next day (Saturday). (FREEMAN)
