Lapu-Lapu minor caught stealing cellphones

CEBU, Philippines - A 17-year-old boy was arrested by police for allegedly stealing two mobile phones worth P7,000 from one of the rooms of a boarding house in Sitio Mactan Proper, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City last Thursday evening.

Police Officer 2 Geralden Pacelan, investigator of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office - Station 2 said the minor, who is also resident of the barangay, was turned over to Home Care Center in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.

The victim, Jojo Deguit, 23, who was renting a room inside the boarding house, was the one who reported the incident to police.

Investigation revealed that around 7 p.m., the minor entered the victim's room taking away two cellphones - a MyPhone unit worth P6,000 and another BS mobile phone unit that costs P1,000.

But Deguit, who had just come home from work, caught the victim and immediately called police for assistance.

Pacelan said they have yet to know who the parents of the minor are as they were not around when the minor was captured.

Police will be filing a case of theft against the suspect once they have concluded the nvestigation. (FREEMAN)
