Family day caps Adoption Week

CEBU, Philippines - To help spread awareness on the importance of legal adoption, at least 13 agencies and child care centers in Cebu are expected to take part in the culminating program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-7’s Adoption Consciousness Week celebration tomorrow at the IEC Convention Center in Cebu City.

Anchored on the theme “Paghigugma ug Pagpangga Palambuon, Legal nga Pagsagop atong Pagahimuon,” the celebration — which will be a family day of sorts — hopes to spread unconditional love for children through legal adoption.

It is sponsored by Jose and Nena Gullas of the JRG Halad Foundation, which is among the child care centers advocating legal adoption that will be represented in tomorrow’s gathering.

Through legal adoption, abandoned or parentless children are granted social, emotional and legal family and kinship membership. It involves a transfer of parental rights and obligations and provides family affiliation. (FREEMAN)
