After demolition: Owners of homes to get P10K each

CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City government will give financial assistance to the families affected by the clearing operations in Barangays Ibabao-Estancia, Centro and Guizo.

Mayor Gabriel Luigi Quisumbing said that 78 structure owners would get P10,000 each upon the recommendation of the Beneficiary Selection Committee-Housing and Urban Development Office (HUDO).

"The City had given financial assistance to those who were displaced as a result of the implementation of government projects in the amount of P10,000 each of the affected structure owners," the resolution of BENSELCOM read.

Vincent Guy Aquino, administrative aide of HUDO, said the 78 structure owners were living in danger zones. The houses demolished were in Sitios Mangga, Tarbatem Bayabas and Nangka in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia; Sitio Tribunal in Barangay Centro and Sitio San Joe in Barangay Guizo.

Aquino said that under Section 28-2 of UDHA Law, the financial assistance in the amount equivalent to the prevailing minimum daily wage multiplied by 60 days shall be extended to the affected families by the local government concerned.

If the affected structure owners had been living in the area on or before March 1992, Aquino said the city will give P10,000 financial assistance each. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
