Man who killed ex-tanod to face murder raps

CEBU, Philippines - For allegedly killing a former barangay tanod, a 45-year-old man will be facing charges before the Cebu City Prosecutor's Office.

Murder charges will be filed against Eric Rabillas, a resident of Barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Cebu City for killing Alex Bicbic, 53, last Friday.

Senior Police Officer 2 Wetzel Berry of the Homicide Section of Cebu City Police Office said they will file the charges against Rabillas even if he is still at large.

Berry, together with his colleagues, responded to a shooting alarm at Sitio Bag-ong Katilingban in Barangay Basak-San Nicolas at 3:30 a.m. on Friday.

The victim's daughter Jessel Bicbic alleged that her father, together with his nephew, was walking along the interior portion of Sitio Bag-ong Katilingban when Rabillas shot the victim.

The victim was hit in his sto-mach and right side of the chest.

Berry said they are following personal grudge as the motive of the killing.

"While the victim was still active as a barangay tanod, he arrested the suspect for illegal possession of firearms. Maybe he (suspect) retaliated," said Berry.

The victim was brought to the hospital but was pronounced dead on Friday night.  (FREEMAN)
