Teacher nabbed for sexual abuse
CEBU, Philippines — A public high school teacher accused of acts of lasciviousness and sexual harassment was arrested by the police in the City of Naga yesterday.
The suspect was identified as Dennis Albiso, 37, who was subject of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 76 Judge Dennis Larrobis on November 8, 2019.
The case stemmed from a complaint of a 15-year-old male student of a national high school in the City of Naga whom the teacher allegedly molested. Police Major Leo Ty, city police chief, said the teacher was accused by one of his students of making sexual advances in exchange of a passing grade.
According to the police, on one occasion the accused allegedly dismissed the rest of the class and asked the victim to stay for tutorial. Ty said the teacher reportedly told the victim to stay behind because he wants to help him catch up in their lessons.
However, the suspect allegedly started his sexual advances towards the victim in the middle of their tutorial. The victim claimed that the teacher started fondling his private part. When the victim protested, the accused allegedly threatened to flunk him in his subject prompting the minor to oblige to the teacher’s lustful desire.
The accused now detained at the Naga Police Station. He could be released upon payment of P120,000 bail for his temporary liberty. FPL (FREEMAN)
