CEBU, Philippines — More than just showcasing the latest firearms, the Tactical, Survival and Arms (TACS) Expo 2018 was aimed at teaching citizens survival tips that may prove useful in saving lives.

Ongoing until Monday, June 18 at the Cebu Trade Hall of SM City Cebu, TACS Expo 2018, organized by the Armscor Global Defense, Inc. in cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of National Defense, the Philippine National Police, Office of Civil Defense and companies in the security and defense industry, was the only comprehensive defense, security, and survival show in the Philippines.

With the theme “Defense, Security and Survival for Sustainable Living,” the expo features survival equipment and sustainability solutions that are of utmost importance in times of calamities and disasters that interrupt basic utilities such as electricity and water. Three things visitors enjoyed during the four-day show:

• Firearms, tactical and outdoor gear under one roof

With over 20 exhibitors of firearms, tactical and outdoor gear at discounted prices from trusted manufacturers and their representatives, one could get all the necessary equipment to secure their home and surroundings. Also on display were ammunition, medical equipment, rifle scopes and sights, military accessories, ammo reloading components, knives, emergency lighting, thermal blankets, security systems, safety equipment and more.

The Philippine National Police will also have a booth to aid people in processing their License to Own and Possess a Firearm, which is a requirement upon purchase.

• Seminars and lectures by leading experts

A series of lectures were conducted by experts in the fields of security, defense, and survival. These included “Urban Survival After a Disaster” by Paramedic and Firefighter Christian Thrane Neis on June 15, 17, and 18 at 3:30 p.m., “Ready 101: Family Preparedness” by Emergency Management Consultant, Martin Aguda on June 15 at 5 p.m., Friday, June 16 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and on Sunday, June 17 at 10 a.m., “Bleeding Control Using Hemostatic Agents” by Benedict de Borja of the Pateros Filipino-Chinese Volunteer Fire and Rescue Brigade, Inc., on June 16 and 17 at 5 p.m., and more.
