Old Favorites, New Place

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - One of the many reasons why Robinsons Galleria Cebu has become a new favorite hangout is that it has suitably complemented Cebu's laid-back sensibilities. Its al fresco section, the Verandah, fully embraces the open air, providing a relaxed mall experience.

Not only is Robinsons Galleria Cebu's Verandah perfect for leisurely strolls with its spacious walkways and the fresh breeze flowing throughout, it is also suitable for cozy lounging and dining, as it features old and familiar go-to favorites.

A beloved family dining joint since the '70s, Pancake House is now home at the Verandah. Cebu's pride Bo's Coffee, which brings together the best coffee beans from all over the Philippines, is likewise now there, too. And so is the previously go-to place in Lahug for its authentic sushi and teppanyaki dishes, Azabu Japanese Restaurant.

Sought for its inventive espresso beverages, beloved import, Starbucks, has also opened its newest store in Cebu at ground floor Verandah. And there's a selection of native cuisine: Gerry's Grill, known for its scrumptious Filipino dishes, and Cebu's very own Chika-an, which has been serving traditional home-cooked dishes for the past 30 years.

Located along Gen. Maxilom Avenue, Robinsons Galleria Cebu is the focal point of a 4.7-hectare mixed-use development complex that consists of residential towers, an office building for business process outsourcing firms, and the second Summit Hotel in the city. It is the biggest mall outside Manila that is developed by the Robinsons Land Corporation, whose mission is to capture the optimistic, progressive, and thriving community spirit of Cebu.   (FREEMAN)
